INTERVIEWING MARCUS AURELIUS??

Hi, everyone! For our last task of this course, we used AI tools to integrate it into language teaching and learning. To be specific, we used Magic School's Character Chatbot and Writing Feedback Tool so that we could experience it both from a teacher's and learner's perspective.

So, first, we chose a historical figure, author, or character to have an interview with. And we did this task with Beyza ( You can click on her name to go to her blog) and we chose Marcus Aurelius for our interview. He was a Roman Emperor and a Stoic philosopher. And we asked him 10 questions on Magic School's Character Chatbot and he gave pretty long answers.

After that, we made a report on our interview with him. We basically summarized our interview. Then using Magic School's Writing Feedback we asked for feedback to improve our report. We asked for feedback on language use, style, coherence, word choice, clarity, flow, and punctuation. We made changes according to its feedback and it only gave us feedback on word choice. spelling and length of our paragraphs. So at the end, we had our interview and both versions of our report.

                                                                    Our interview

                                                                      Our report

I think it was pretty easy to use AI on this task. There weren't a lot of challenges. I think the only downfall of it was that for every question it gave pretty similar answers and it used the same phrases over and over again. But I think this would be pretty suitable for language classes, especially for young children and I would use it in my class maybe as homework to get them all trying. I think it's pretty beneficial in terms of usage and accessibility but the only drawback is that the learners can use AI for not-so-ethical purposes. But overall this was a fun task and I think it would be beneficial for learners.

Thank you for being here, and take care!
